Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 F.

  2. Combine water and yeast in a large bowl. Separately mix flour, salt, and sugar.

  3. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a stiff dough forms, adding extra flour one tablespoon at a time if needed.

  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for one hour.

  5. Punch down the dough and knead on a lightly floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth.

  6. Divide the dough into 10 balls.

  7. Shape each ball into a cylindrical roll with tapered ends, place on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.

  8. Brush each roll with egg white and score the top 1/4-inch deep.

  9. Bake for 30 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.

  10. Remove from the oven and cool.
