Blueberry Bread Pudding

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 F and butter an 11x7-inch baking dish.

Whisk milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, almond flavorings, and 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest in a large bowl.

Add bread to the mixture and let it stand for 10-15 minutes.

Toss blueberries with powdered sugar, then fold them into the bread mixture.

Transfer to the prepared baking dish. Place it inside a larger baking pan in the oven, then add about an inch of hot water to the outer pan.

Bake for 50-60 minutes, until firm and lightly browned.

For the lemon sauce, bring 1 1/2 cups water to a boil in a saucepan.

Combine 3/4 cup granulated sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a separate saucepan.

Pour boiling water over the sugar mixture, place over medium-low heat, and stir constantly until thickened and clear.

Stir in lemon zest, lemon juice, and butter until blended.

Serve the bread pudding with lemon sauce.
