Basmati Rice With Carrots

Instructions

  1. Start boiling water in a separate saucepan.

  2. Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat; sauté chopped onion for 3-4 minutes until soft.

  3. Add grated carrots and cook for an additional 5 minutes until soft, then stir in sugar.

  4. Add the rice, salt, and boiling water to the pot, then cover and simmer on low heat for 20-25 minutes until the water is absorbed.

  5. Remove the pot from heat, stir the rice, cover, and allow to steam for 5 minutes until tender.

  6. Stir again and uncover the pot to prevent the rice from becoming sticky.
