Basic Sourdough Beer Bread Recipe
A four-ingredient sourdough bread combines beer to infuse a distinct hops flavor into the finished loaf.

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

In a large bowl, combine beer and sourdough starter.

Stir in sugar until dissolved, then mix in enough flour to form a kneadable dough.

Turn the dough onto a floured board and knead for 10 minutes, adding more flour, about a tablespoon at a time, until the dough is no longer sticky.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, then flip it over to grease the top.

Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 1/2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

Turn the dough onto a floured board and knead for 5 minutes.

Divide the dough in half and form each half into a loaf.

Grease two bread pans, place the loaves in the pans, cover with a towel, and let rise for about 45 minutes, or until doubled in size.

Bake for about 45 minutes, or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped.

Remove loaves from pans and allow to cool on a rack.
