Barley Porridge

A traditional whole-grain barley porridge, easy to prepare but requiring extended cooking for a soft texture.

Instructions

  1. Soak barley in 3/4 cup water for 1 hour.

  2. After soaking, bring 3 1/2 cups water and a cinnamon stick to a boil in a saucepan.

  3. Add soaked barley and soaking liquid to the boiling water. Cook on medium heat for 30-40 minutes until tender.

  4. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar and milk to taste. Serve hot with optional fruit and nuts.
