Barbecue Turkey Legs

Instructions

  1. Cook onion and celery in butter over medium heat for 7 to 10 minutes until soft.

  2. Add remaining sauce ingredients to the pot, simmer over medium-low heat for 5 minutes while stirring, then cool the sauce.

  3. Preheat the grill.

  4. Season turkey legs with salt and black pepper.

  5. Grill turkey legs over medium heat, covered, for 30 to 45 minutes, turning occasionally, until nearly done.

  6. Baste with sauce during the final 15 to 20 minutes, reducing heat or moving to indirect heat if needed, until the internal temperature reaches 180 to 185 F.

  7. Remove from heat, tent with foil, and rest for 10 minutes before serving.

  8. Warm any reserved sauce separately for serving on the side.
