Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 F. Trim and peel the rutabaga.

  2. Cut the rutabaga into even 1/4-inch sticks.

  3. In a large bowl, toss rutabaga sticks with oil, then season evenly with pepper and/or garlic powder.

  4. Spread the seasoned rutabaga sticks in a single layer on a lightly oiled or parchment-lined baking sheet and sprinkle with salt.

  5. Bake for 20 minutes. Flip the sticks and continue baking for approximately 40 minutes, until tender and well-browned.

  6. Serve the fries hot.
