Baked Macaroni and Cheese With Sausage

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F and grease a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.

  2. Cook macaroni in salted boiling water as directed; drain.

  3. Sauté sausage, onion, and green bell pepper in a skillet until browned; drain fat.

  4. Stir flour and salt into the sausage mixture, then gradually add milk, cooking over low heat until the sauce thickens.

  5. Mix in the cooked macaroni and 1 cup of Cheddar cheese.

  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared casserole dish, top with the remaining cheese, and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

  7. Serve.
