Baked Macaroni and Cheese With Ham

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish.

  3. Cook macaroni in boiling salted water, drain, and rinse.

  4. In a saucepan, whisk milk and flour over medium heat, then stir in salt, onion powder, and pepper until thickened.

  5. Mix in ham, green onions (if using), and 2 cups of cheddar cheese until melted, then remove from heat.

  6. Stir the cooked macaroni into the sauce until well blended.

  7. Combine breadcrumbs with 2 tablespoons melted butter.

  8. Spoon the macaroni mixture into the prepared dish.

  9. Top with the remaining 1 cup of cheese and then the buttered breadcrumbs.

  10. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until browned and bubbly.
