Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 325 F.
-
Mix the glaze ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
-
Allow the ham to reach room temperature for one hour.
-
Drain, rinse, and pat dry the ham, then score it skin-side up in a diamond pattern at 2-inch intervals.
-
Line a large roasting pan with aluminum foil, add 2 cups of water, and place a roasting rack with the ham (skin-side up) on it.
-
Insert a probe thermometer into the deepest part of the ham, then bake for approximately 3 hours until the internal temperature reaches 120 F.
-
Remove the ham from the oven, take out the thermometer, and carefully remove the skin and excess fat, leaving about 1/4 inch of fat.
-
Generously brush the ham with the prepared glaze, reinsert the thermometer in a different spot, and return to the oven.
-
Bake for an additional hour or until the internal temperature reaches 140 F.
-
Remove the ham from the oven, allow it to rest for 30 minutes, then carve and serve.
