Baked Apple Pudding Cake
A super moist baked apple pudding cake features a caramel syrup base and a texture akin to a cross between a cobbler and a cake.

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F and butter an 8-inch square baking pan.

In a saucepan, combine 1 cup brown sugar, cornstarch, 4 tbsp butter, and 1 cup water; bring to a boil and stir until thickened. Pour into the prepared pan.

Toss chopped apples with 1/3 cup brown sugar in a medium bowl.

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 4 tbsp softened butter, and 1/2 cup milk until well combined. Fold in the chopped apples, then spoon this mixture evenly over the syrup in the pan.

Bake for 30 minutes, or until the cake is firm and the syrup is bubbly.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and an extra drizzle of syrup.
