Baked Alaska Dessert

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 F.

  2. Line an 8x4-inch loaf pan with plastic wrap, leaving an overhang. Spread softened ice cream into the pan and freeze until solid, at least 6 hours (freeze layers individually if applicable).

  3. Cut cake to a 1-inch thick, 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch rectangle and place on an oven-safe platter.

  4. Warm jam, brush it over the cake, then let it cool.

  5. Remove the solid ice cream from the pan, discard plastic, and place it on the jam-coated cake. Freeze for 30 minutes until firm.

  6. Beat egg whites until foamy, then gradually add sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.

  7. Spread a 1/2-inch thick layer of meringue over the ice cream and cake, ensuring it's completely sealed.

  8. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes until the meringue is light brown. Serve.
