Instructions

  1. Fry bacon, reserving the fat; allow the fat to cool.

  2. Combine vodka and cooled bacon fat in a jar, seal, and shake vigorously.

  3. Let the mixture rest at room temperature for 4-6 hours.

  4. Freeze the sealed jar for 30 minutes until the bacon fat solidifies.

  5. Strain the vodka through a cheesecloth-lined fine mesh strainer over a clean jar, repeating the filtration if any fat passes through.

  6. Transfer the clarified bacon vodka to a clean, tightly sealed jar, then label and store.

  7. In a cocktail shaker, combine hard apple cider, bacon vodka, maple syrup, and bitters; add ice and stir thoroughly.

  8. Strain the cocktail into a chilled glass.

  9. Garnish with a brandied cherry and a bacon strip, then serve.
