Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, and Egg Sandwich (aka The BLTE)

A classic bacon, lettuce, tomato, and egg sandwich is prepared with crispy bacon, a sunny-side-up egg, and a fresh basil aioli.

Instructions

  1. Combine mayonnaise, basil, lemon juice, and garlic for the aioli; set aside.

  2. Fry bacon in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat until crispy; remove and set aside.

  3. In the same skillet, fry an egg sunny-side up in the bacon grease; remove and set aside.

  4. Toast both bread slices in the bacon-greased skillet until golden.

  5. Spread aioli on both toast slices. Layer one slice with lettuce, tomato, bacon, and the fried egg, then top with the second toast slice.

  6. Serve the sandwich immediately.
