Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a small bowl.

  3. In a medium bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy for 3 to 5 minutes.

  4. Add the egg and beat until light and fluffy for 1 to 2 minutes.

  5. Combine the flour mixture and applesauce into the wet ingredients, beating until just combined.

  6. Drop 1 1/2 tablespoon portions of dough 2 inches apart onto the prepared baking sheets.

  7. Bake one tray at a time for 12 to 15 minutes, until edges are golden.

  8. Cool completely on the baking sheets, then sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
