Instructions

  1. Combine apple juice, lemon juice, star anise, and cinnamon in a saucepan.

  2. Boil over medium-high heat, reducing the mixture to one-fourth of its initial volume, stirring occasionally.

  3. Remove the star anise pods.

  4. Add sugar and continue boiling until it dissolves and the syrup coats the back of a spoon, dripping like honey.

  5. Pour the apple syrup into a clean jar for storage.
