Apple Snacking Cake
This cinnamon-scented, apple-studded cake is quickly assembled and baked in under an hour for an easy fall dessert.

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350F and position a rack in the center.

Grease an 8-inch square cake pan and line with parchment paper extending over two sides.

Whisk melted butter, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a large bowl.

Whisk in eggs one at a time, then whole milk.

Add baking powder, cinnamon, and salt, whisking well after each addition.

Fold in all-purpose flour until just combined.

Scrape batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

Scatter diced Granny Smith apple over batter; sprinkle with turbinado sugar if desired.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, rotating halfway through, until a skewer inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.

Cool on a rack for 10 minutes, then lift cake from pan using parchment overhang.

Cool completely, remove parchment, and sift confectioners' sugar over cake if desired. Slice and serve.
