Apple Cinnamon Bread Pudding

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F and butter an 11x7-inch baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, combine bread, cinnamon, apple slices, and optional dried fruits.

  3. Heat milk, brown sugar, and butter in a medium saucepan until hot and butter is melted, but do not boil.

  4. Whisk eggs and vanilla in a medium bowl, then rapidly whisk in the hot milk mixture.

  5. Pour the hot milk mixture over the bread mixture and stir thoroughly.

  6. Transfer the bread mixture to the prepared baking dish.

  7. Place the baking dish into a larger shallow pan and add 1/2 inch of hot water to the outer pan.

  8. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
