American Chop Suey

Instructions

  1. Start boiling salted water for the pasta.

  2. Cook pasta according to package directions, then drain, rinse, and set aside.

  3. Heat oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and bell pepper until softened and lightly browned.

  4. Add ground beef and cook until no longer pink, breaking it up as it browns.

  5. Stir in garlic and garlic powder; cook for 1 to 2 minutes.

  6. Add crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, and pepper; stir until boiling. Season with salt to taste and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.

  7. Combine the drained macaroni with the sauce, mix well, and heat through.
