Amaretto Crème Brûlée

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. In a saucepan, bring cream, amaretto, and almond extract to a boil.

  3. Whisk egg yolks with 1/2 cup granulated sugar, then slowly incorporate the hot cream mixture until well blended.

  4. Place 6 to 8 individual baking dishes into a larger baking pan.

  5. Pour the cream mixture into the small dishes, then add boiling water to the larger pan, filling it halfway up the sides of the small dishes.

  6. Bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until the centers are set but slightly jiggly.

  7. Cool the crème brûlée, then chill for 4 to 6 hours or overnight.

  8. Before serving, sprinkle each crème brûlée with 2 to 3 teaspoons of sugar.

  9. Torch or broil the sugar until caramelized and golden brown.

  10. Garnish with mint or toasted almonds as desired.
