Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl.

  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar, then beat in eggs one at a time.

  4. Mix in grated almond paste until fully incorporated.

  5. Gradually add the flour mixture until combined.

  6. Crush almonds and spread on a plate.

  7. Form 1.5-teaspoon dough portions into cylinders, roll in crushed almonds, then shape into crescents.

  8. Place shaped dough on a lightly greased baking pan and bake for 15 minutes.

  9. Cool cookies on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to racks to cool completely.

  10. Prepare a parchment-lined surface.

  11. Melt chocolate chips and shortening in a bowl, stirring until smooth.

  12. Dip each end of the cooled cookies into the melted chocolate and place them on the parchment paper.

  13. Allow cookies to air dry before serving or storing.
