Agua Fresca de Tamarindo (Made With Tamarind Pods)

Instructions

  1. Start boiling half of the water in a large pot.

  2. While water heats, prepare tamarind pods by removing their outer shell and strings.

  3. Once water boils, remove from heat, then add the peeled tamarind and sugar to the hot water and let soak for 90 minutes.

  4. After soaking, squeeze out and discard the hard tamarind seeds and any remaining strings from the cooled liquid.

  5. Blend the liquid and pulp until the pulp is fully integrated into the water.

  6. Strain the mixture if a pulp-free consistency is preferred.

  7. Pour the drink into a pitcher, mix in the remaining water, and refrigerate until cold.

  8. Serve chilled, over ice if desired.
