Instructions

  1. Start boiling 1 to 2 inches of water in the bottom of a double boiler.

  2. Combine brown sugar, egg whites, water, and salt in the top part of the double boiler, then place it over the boiling water, ensuring no contact with the water.

  3. Beat the mixture with an electric beater for 5 to 7 minutes until thick and it holds its shape.

  4. Remove the bowl from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. Continue beating until the frosting is thick enough to spread on a cake.
