5-Minute Homemade Kettle Corn

Start by heating the oil and three popcorn kernels in a large 6-quart pot over medium heat until they begin to pop.

Immediately add the remaining popcorn and sugar, stirring once or twice to combine.

Cover the pot and, using oven mitts, continuously swirl the pan for about 1.5 minutes until the popping slows to every two seconds.

Remove the pot from heat and keep it covered for five more seconds until all popping stops.

Sprinkle the popcorn with salt, cover, and shake the pot to evenly coat, then pour it into a large, wide bowl.

Allow the kettle corn to cool for 2 minutes to achieve maximum crispness before serving.
