Line an 8x8-inch pan with foil, butter it lightly, and set aside.

Start boiling water in the bottom of a double boiler; reduce heat to low once boiling and place the top pan over it.

Melt butter and peanut butter in the double boiler, stirring until smooth.

Stir in confectioners' sugar until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.

Scrape the mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

Once cool, remove the fudge from the pan using the foil handles.

Discard foil and cut the fudge into 16 equal pieces.
